Live Oaks grow exceptionally well in desert environments, which is why they are used so ubiquitously in Southwestern desert zones. Commonly seen in parks and large open areas, Live Oaks are used in front of stadiums and high-traffic settings where large landscape features are vital.
Live Oaks grow well in both grass or gravel landscapes, and take very little care to get established and growing. The dark, dense green canopy of the Live Oak provides immense shade to surrounding areas, and is ideal for privacy or property line usage. Live Oaks are also great for windy areas, as Oak trees are notoriously sturdy, taking plenty of punishment before showing any damage. Landscapers typically use this tree in both tropical and desert settings, but they can work just about anywhere there planted.
